(Of the architect's drawings, this one "had me with Hello".) In the back left of the drawing is the Guest Registry Desk and the Stairway. Along the back to the right are the original 3 sets of French Doors leading to the Garden Area. This area will surely be the site for many bridal and baby showers as well as small meetings. After all, our Panhandle Inn was built to be the Meeting Place of the Panhandle. It will be just that again.
From Architect Charles Lynch's original feasibility drawings, the upstairs proposed floor plan: 3-2,500 sq. ft., 2 bed, 2 bath, private balcony living suites. 5 guest rooms. Commons lobby. Also, one original guest room will be restored to original and will include original furnishings. Furnishings to include: ceiling light fixture and globe, bed, wardrobe, luggage stand, sink, medicine cabinet.
Architect Charles Lynch presented each of the 4 drawings in this set in his presentation to the Board of the Panhandle Inn Foundation on the night he was unanimously selected to lead the renovation of OUR Panhandle Inn. This was his feasibility vision for downstairs. It includes: City Hall, coffee shop, restaurant, Inn gift shop and information center, lobby, conference room, commons bathrooms.
Garden Area proposed to be named "Summers Garden" in honor of and tribute to Deborah Summers. Mrs. Summers founded the Panhandle Inn Foundation. The area is flanked with well established shade trees planted by Deborah and her husband, Larry. Sure to be a popular venue for garden weddings, outdoor concerts and community use. The garden is easily accessed from Main St., the alley, and the Main Lobby of the Inn.
Framed Original Architectural Drawings hang in the background. Lots of stories were told between the near 500 guests.
Brynn Counts Lee, Karen Urbancyk Counts, and Marsha Urbanczyk Neel enjoy reminiscing in the Inn's ballroom. Maybe they are planning a dance!?
This Raffle Prize Beauty went to the Martin family. Look for this pretty, young family cruising around town with the top down. Wait for son,Whitman, to get in high school. What fun he and his friends will have as long as he can get the keys from his mom.
Larry bought the Inn as a gift for his wife Deborah much like Ernest Thompson built the Inn as a wedding gift for his wife May Peterson. May and Ernest's story is a beautiful romance. Their story is Deborah's all time favorite love story. If you see Deborah out and about, ask her about the Inn's favorite couple.

Artist Nancy Riley and craftsman/artist Dee Goodman collaborated to create mosaics from the linoleum from upstairs guest rooms in the Inn. Panhandle High School student, Johnny Kirkwood, created several mosaics, as well. Funds raised from the sale of the mosaics at $100 each have been very beneficial for the Inn. Some available-3/1/14.
